Alfalfa from Patagonia – Sun drying process
Our plant in Patagonia follows a traditional alfalfa hay making process. This process begins by sowing the best seeds imported from the USA and once the campaign starts, the plant is cut. Once the cutting is completed, a mechanical rake is used to arrange the plant in rows on the field itself to be dried by the sun. The plants will be turned over every day until they reach 12-14% humidity and are suitable to be stored. The process is completed by making mega-bales of sun dried alfalfa weighing 800kg using QA USDA standards to obtain Supreme, Premium, Good and Fair qualities.
